Real Estate Investment Funds and the New High School
Financial Literacy was introduced in Brazil in 2010 and began to integrate, albeit in an incipient way, the curriculum in primary and secondary education. After Covid-19, the implementation of the New High School introduced Formative Itineraries into the school curriculum and encouraged the offer of new subjects, which complement traditional academic education and prepare students for the exercise of citizenship and the professional world. The Real Estate Investment Fund is a financial asset that arouses a lot of interest in this age group and whose understanding of its characteristics is compatible with the skills and competences of a high school student. The purpose of this article is to present the development of a Real Estate Investment Funds discipline within a private school in the countryside of São Paulo. The method employed in this research involves the description of the main topics covered in the discipline and the analysis of the work produced by the students, which consist of the fundamental analysis of a management report of an equity fund and a mortgage fund. The results identify the degree of understanding of the students in the various concepts presented in the discipline and confirm the potential of Real Estate Investment Funds studies in the school education of these students.
